The hospitality industry is the Mornington Peninsula’s largest employer. At any one time there are 200 unfilled hospitality positions. The peninsula also has one of the highest levels of youth unemployment in Australia. HomeGround is a social enterprise aiming to bridge the gap between unemployed youth and vacant hospitality jobs. HomeGround provides vocational training for unskilled youth by partnering with companies like Commonfolk. It also serves delicious coffee and nutritious food to one of the poorest communities on the peninsula.
