Terracycle for the win!

Commonfolk coffee is forever, but heck, we don’t want our packaging to be.

Like you, we’re trying to take responsibility for how we produce, consume and share everything we do. It ain’t always quick, cheap, or easy, and we’re constantly seeking to be better. It all begins with an awareness of our responsibility to create real value rather than just take take take. Being able to do what we love and it have a positive impact socially, environmentally and economically, thats the real win.

Dandrews recently noted in his daily presso that the Badger’s pink mullet has been the best thing we’ve done for the state during stage four restrictions. Closely followed by launching recyclable bags.

For those of you far and wide that we’re lucky enough to have roasted coffee for recently, you’ll have noticed a new feel to the bags and hopefully a lil note on the underside - ‘please recycle this bag at your local recycling facility’. You bet. Soft plastics recyclable!

When you’re unable to reuse a clean container or coffee bag, snag yourself a freshie and drop it into a soft plastics recycling bin when empty. The only requirements are that it’s proper empty (don’t be insane and leave coffee behind) and dry (leave the water for your mug). These bags are made from materials approved for dropping in those soft plastics bins at the major supermarkets along with your other soft plastics.

We’ll even sling you free black coffee when you recycle your coffee bags at the cafe, because we like the way you roll. And you thought a trip to South Aus for 5c was good value.

We have partnered with TERRACYCLE for our local friends and anyone without access to a soft plastics recycling bin. You’ll find our Zerowaste Box for coffee bags sitting pretty aside our retail coffee. This Zerowaste box does not discriminate and wants all your coffee bags, including our pre-transition foil lined bags.

Terracycle is a social enterprise leading the charge on ditching the idea of waste through global initiatives to reuse and recycle everything. Waste really is just a lack of creativity, and while we continue to bundle our minds together to be better, Terracycle are providing a means to repurpose our packaging.

Q’s, suggestions for being better and stories from beyond our 25k always welcome.
