This one is a little special. The card artwork you’re holding was crocheted by our very own Jari, who stitched it together just because. In the last year Jari has stepped up as one of the most reliable and inspiring leaders on the Commonfolk team, and this coffee felt like the perfect way to celebrate Jari for being the best. Sourced from the Sipi region of eastern Uganda, it comes from one of the country’s most established coffee-growing areas. Sipi is famous for its waterfalls and sweeping views, but also for decades of experience in cultivating high-quality coffee. The team at Zukuka Bora have built deep trust here, establishing buying stations and working side by side with producers to explore new ways of processing. This particular lot was one of their most exciting experiments of the year. Using an anaerobic process, ripe cherries were sealed and fermented in a low-oxygen environment before being dried on raised beds. Only a single bag was produced, and it quickly became a favourite among the team. Dave Bishop from Zukuka Bora described it as tasting like soursop, his favourite fruit, and we couldn’t agree more. In the cup you’ll find butterscotch sweetness, purple grape juiciness, and a bright soursop tang. It is playful, vibrant, and deeply satisfying. Just like the label, this release is a reminder that taste is only a little part of what we love about coffee.
