Meet and Greet - A Good Little Thing

Located in Tootgarook, if you want a serve of sunshine and rainbows with your morning coffee then you need to visit Bri & Carly @ A Good Little Thing.

Who is A Good Little Thing?!

A Good Little Thing is owned by Carly & Bri. We are both lovers of music, art, puppies, plants, food and coffee. We like to celebrate life as best we know how- being silly and playful, and with lots of laughter.

You’ll often find us dancing behind the coffee machine with Elly (our #1 employee) bringing you some of the Peninsula’s finest brews or exploring the beautiful surrounds of our home.

But… our community is really what makes it A Good Little Thing!

How did A Good Little Thing come to be?!

Oh, do we have a story to tell.

We went to this spot about two years ago & Carly absolutely loved the space, she had been wanting her own cafe since she was 15 and had so many beautiful ideas. In fact I used to pick on her and say when she met someone new, she’d say ‘Hi I’m Carly, I want to own a cafe on day’ 😂😂

Then there was me who wasn’t sure what I’d like to do but I knew it was something that brings people together and gives each person a sense of belonging. Anyway, after a few weeks of talking about it, Carly took a photo & set it as her phone background.

Our journey with ‘A Good Little Thing’ all started with a COVID coffee. We were going on an adventure to the back beach and couldn’t decide if we should get a coffee or not. On one hand Carly had lost her 3 jobs, and I was in the process of figuring out if I was eligible for jobkeeper so we didn’t really have any income, however we wanted to support small business (& we love Commonfolk coffee).

We decided we wouldn’t but then I made the turn into Hunter cafe (their tofu scramble is to die for) anyway… we must have subconsciously known. We walked in and there was the previous owner of AGLT, chatting to the girls at the counter about how he was planning on selling. Carly said ‘Hi’ & introduced herself, chatted a bit and said how she would be interested.

Meanwhile my jaw was on the ground in shock. I remember going to the beach and we were jumping around like the dorks we are, giggling and in shock.

What is the secret to your DELICIOUS muffins?

Hahaha that is a great question. Would you believe our muffins are vegan and lower in sugar than your average? The banana adds sweetness and gives them awesome consistency. They’re also baked fresh each morning & we love playing around with flavours - never skimping on the fruit & other fillings.

Favourite way to drink Commonfolk Coffee?

Commonfolk's Progress Street is our house blend and we LOVE it. I drink it as an almond latte, Elly drinks a soy latte & Carly mixes it up with a half almond, half soy latte. But we can’t get enough of our ‘Biscoffee’. Ask us about it next time you’re in.

Best thing about A Good Little Thing?!

Phwoh, that is a question and a half. It’s got to be our customers (& of course Elly)! We take great pride in getting to know each of our customers & we absolutely love being a part of their lives. We care about them & they care about us - making it so worth the 5am alarm each morning.

And realising that dreams can come true!

Next time you’re anywhere near Tootgarook, be sure to pop in and see the crew at A Good little Thing, and hit them up for a Biscoffee 😉☕️
