It’s been a while. Those of you who have been around long enough will remember La Pequeña (the little one), named for a couple reasons. Derlin and Diego’s daughter who was teeny tiny when we first started importing their coffee, and for these smaller lots we were bringing in from their farm. With a new addition to the Campos clan, a new baby boy, it felt only right that we would revisit this namesake.
From those humble beginnings we return to the same coffee and same trees five years on, Colombia varietals from Diamante give the cleanest, sweetest brews. Not just a full return to name, but also a full circle in connection with our tallest coffee friend Jordy V. Who whilst working for Commonfolk set up the initial connection with Diego and now helps us import these wonderful coffees via Bigger Smaller and Osito.
Processed in Diego’s classic way of a 24 hour sealed ferment, then pulping to a secondary ferment of ~36 hours before soaking in fresh water for 12 hours. Finally laid out to dry in marquesina for 15-20 days. These controlled and clean ferments allow for bright acidic flavours such as preserved lemon and peach. But it’s also incredibly well rounded with milk chocolate sweetness and a touch of sesame snaps. Big feelings for this coffee and five years of partnerships, and perhaps even bigger flavours in the cup.
Did you know 20c from every kilogram of coffee roasted and every cup sold goes to The Cup That Counts.
