Last year’s release felt like Level One. Now we’re back with the sequel, and the map has expanded. From her 9-hectare farm in Kota Kebele, Jimma, at nearly 2,000 metres, Nesru Aba Nura has produced two lots for us this season: a washed and a natural. Same trees, same varieties, but two different adventures.
Nesru grows JARC cultivars 74110 and 74112, selected for both resilience and cup quality. Careful picking, fermentation and drying turn her harvest into something remarkable. She is part of Tokuma Coffee Farmers, a group that helps with export and traceability, but the name on this coffee is hers. Nesru is building her own legacy in Jimma, a place already famous for innovation and flavour.
The NES Washed is clean fermentation and soaking to highlight clarity. Fuji apple, red grape and rooibos tea line up like the main quest, structured and bright cup.
The NES Natural is whole cherries dry on raised beds for close to three weeks, rotated constantly until the fruit sings. Raspberry jam, mango, hibiscus tea, plum and red currant bring a juicier, more dynamic profile, a cup that feels like discovering a hidden level or uncovering an Easter egg that changes the game.
Together they are a true side quest: two different routes through the same world, each worth its own high score. Try them together and you might even feel like you’ve unlocked a rare drop one can only dream of.
