A release that is part of something bigger. $5 from every bag sold goes directly to The Cup That Counts, our way of turning a daily ritual into lasting impact. We are about building impact into as many things as we can, like the 20c from every cup or kg sold, but this is the big one. $5 from a bag has the chance to make a big contribution to The Cup That Counts projects working with coffee communities locally and across the world.

Bulaago is a region of Mt Elgon known for producing outstanding coffee, but is very isolated and a place many exporters have tired and given up on. You can see from the label that the path to the Bulaago community is through a gorge and running river, sometimes with water a few feet deep. The exporters come for the high yields and high quality, but when the water is too high, they hightail it outta there leaving abandoned sites with traces of their eagerness, but ultimately their lack of commitment. The Cup That Counts and Zukuka Bora look to support communities exactly like this that are overlooked and under served. The Bulaago region produces fantastic coffee, this year with notes of milk chocolate, blood orange and buttery shortbread make this a perfect coffee for everyone. Bukhanakwa is another site you may have heard us talk about. Zukuka Bora currently leases some space in order to buy cherry from this community, but the plan this year is to raise enough funds so that land can be purchased for a permanent site. Buying this coffee  is contributing to the growing impact The Cup That Counts is able to make in our coffee communities around the world.
