One Coffee, Many Many Hands

This label artwork was a film shot from our Group Head Barista, Alex. It features one of the 3 main waterfalls in Sipi. Alex was on the ground with Sam and Steph, travelling across the slopes of the mountain to visit the communities that make up this year’s Mt Elgon Natural lot, spending quality time with our partners and mates at Zukuka Bora.

This coffee brings together naturally processed cherry from most of the regions that Zukuka Bora operates in. It is combined at various stages at Zukuka Bora’s Muyanda site to finish drying and at the warehouse to prepare for milling. Each region contributes its own flavours and creates a delicious mother sauce combination for this lot. Each year once the single region micro lots have completed this is a perfect way to combine the remaining coffees into something really versatile like Elgon Natural that we can feature like this or throw into a blend. This allows Zukuka Bora to buy much more cherry from producers and expand the impact on Mt Elgon. Zukuka Bora is showing up consistently, investing in local buying stations and processing infrastructure, and backing farmers with training and transparent access to market. That long-term commitment has opened the door to quality improvements and more expressive processing styles, including the natural process used here.

The kings cup of Zukuka Bora naturals actually works, we are getting flavours of musk sticks, raspberry yoghurt and cacao nibs. A ripper of a coffee, and a lovely way to celebrate all of the work Zukuka Bora does in one delicious coffee.

Did you know 20c from every kilogram of coffee roasted and every cup sold goes to The Cup That Counts.
