Bom Jesus is back, and we’re so very sorry you had to wait this long. Honestly it feels like welcoming home an old mate who’s always been there for you. This coffee has been with us almost as long as Sam and at this point it’s part of the Commonfolk lore. Every year, it’s been ol’ reliable, every week someone asks the roastery team when it’ll be back. So put down the pitchforks, please.
Part of why we love it so much is the people behind it. Gabriel and Lucas, along with the rest of the Oliviera family, have been with us for almost 13 years. We’ve gone to their home and they come to ours. Their farm has been recognised as São Paulo’s most sustainable and the third most sustainable in Brazil. They don’t waste a single cherry. Every lot gets sorted, separated and given a purpose, from the highest-scoring selections to those little outliers most producers would ignore. That approach isn’t about being fancy or the best. It’s about respect. Respect for the land, the fruit, the people, and the work it takes to produce good coffee at scale without ruining the environment. Nose to tail isn’t just for animal husbandry.
This year we’re excited that it’s as good as ever. Chocolate, caramel, a bit of bitter citrus and that boozy quality we love. I’d love to say it’s here to stay. But best to grab it whilst you can.
Did you know 20c from every kilogram of coffee roasted and every cup sold goes to The Cup That Counts.
