This honey-processed lot comes straight from the slopes of Mt Elgon, where we’ve been working closely with the Zukuka Bora team for years. Together, we’ve seen how direct, fair buying transforms the lives of farmers and their families, creating opportunities that simply didn’t exist under the old system of predatory middlemen.
This season’s Mt Elgon Honey is a real standout. After careful handpicking, the cherries are depulped but left with their sticky mucilage intact, then dried slowly to develop intense sweetness and depth. The result is a coffee bursting with flavours of red grape, zesty lemon lime bitters, and rich molasses, all carried by a silky, lingering finish.
To mark NAIDOC Week, and to celebrate and support the strength and creativity of First Nations communities, we’re donating $5 from every bag sold to Blak Fig. Blak Fig is the hospitality program of First Peoples' Health and Wellbeing, and a valued Commonfolk partner creating vital opportunities for First Nations young people to gain skills, confidence, and experience in hospitality.
We’re proud to stand alongside our friends at Zukuka Bora in Uganda and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities here on the unceded lands where we live and work. We’re grateful for the chance to contribute, even in a small way, to the future they’re building.
Order a bag online, drop by Blak Fig in Frankston, or follow @blakfig to support their amazing work.
Did you know 20c from every kilogram of coffee roasted and every cup sold goes to The Cup That Counts.
